Domestic battery—Doris A. Bawcum, of 810 S. Jackson St. in Hinsdale, was arrested and charged with domestic battery after the 40-year-old woman pushed a male family member during the evening hours of Sept. 1, according to Deputy Hinsdale Police Chief Mark Wodka.

Wodka would not disclose the relationship between Bawcum and the victim, but they are both residents of the same Jackson Street home.

Bawcum is currently being held at DuPage County Jail, Wodka said.

DUI—Michael H. Janowiak, of 6688 Joliet Rd. in Indian Head Park, was arrested by Hinsdale Police at 12:26 a.m. Aug. 31 after he was observed to be driving under the influence of alcohol in the 900 block of South Madison Street.

Janowiak, 47, was stopped by a Hinsdale Police officer for improper lane usage and for driving with his high beams on and not dimming them for oncoming traffic. Janowiak refused to perform field sobriety tests and physically resisted arrest, according to police. He was charged with DUI and resisting/obstructing an officer in addition to improper lane usage and failure to dim lights.

Janowiak posted bail and was released to appear in court.

Trespassing on railroad property—Mark D. Thompson, of 1916 S. State St. in Calumet City, and Rubin A. Holmes, of 215 E. New York St. in Aurora, were cited for criminal trespassing on railroad property when they were spotted outside a vehicle parked near the BNSF tracks at Adams Street at 10:53 p.m. Sept. 2.

Wodka said the case is under investigation and would not disclose any reasons Thompson, 48, and Holmes, 56, might have been hanging out near the tracks.

Hit and run—A pedestrian was struck in a crosswalk at the intersection of Chicago Avenue and Lincoln Street by an unknown suspect driving a maroon Lexus two-door at 1:35 p.m. Aug. 31.

The suspect, who left the scene, is described by the as a white male, 40 to 50 years in age with “salt and pepper colored hair.”

The victim did not accept medical attention and had no apparent injuries.

Possession of cannabis—A 17-year-old male juvenile from Clarendon Hills was charged with possession of cannabis, alcohol by a minor, and tobacco by a minor after Hinsdale Police officers found the substances in the passenger compartment of the juvenile’s vehicle during a stop for a vehicle equipment violation at 2:15 a.m. Sept. 3 in the 600 block of South Grant Street.

The suspect did not have a valid driver’s license because he was out after curfew and could not provide proof of insurance. He was charged and released to appear in court.

Fighting—Two female juveniles, one a 16-year-old from Hinsdale and the other a 15-year-old from Westmont, were charged by Hinsdale Police with fighting after an altercation in the Hinsdale Central High School cafeteria Sept. 2. They were released to appear in court.
