Jennifer Lopez cancels summer tour ‘to be with her children, family and close friends’ (2024)

Jennifer Lopez announced on Friday she’s canceled her summer tour.

The Bronx-born singer revealed the news to fans through her exclusive email newsletter On The JLo.

In a “special message to JLovers,” Lopez wrote:

“I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down. Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again,” she penned. “I love you all so much. Until next time…”

The site also included a statement from Live Nation, the tour promoter.

The company announced the cancelation citing “Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends.”

“For those who purchased through Ticketmaster, tickets will automatically be refunded – there is nothing further fans need to do. For those who purchased via third-party resale sites such as SeatGeek, StubHub, VividSeats, etc. – please reach out to your point purchase for more details.”

The cancelation comes over a month after the “Atlas” star revealed the tour was rebranded as a Greatest Hits tour.

News of the tour itself wasannounced in February as she wascelebrating her latest album “This is Me… Now,” which is the sequel to her 2002 album “This is Me… Then.” The album famously chronicled her relationship with then-fiance Ben Affleck.

Following the couple’s reunion and wedding, Lopez brought back the nostalgia for an album, a film“This Is Me… Now: A Love Story”and an accompanying documentary about their story called“The Greatest Love Story Never Told.”

After tickets went on sale, many noticed that about five concert dates between Aug. 22 to 30 were marked as canceled onTicketmaster.

The site marked the shows in Nashville, Raleigh, Atlanta, Tampa and New Orleans as canceled.Varietyreported that the shows in Cleveland and Houston were removed from the schedule completely.Peoplereported that these changes were made due to logistical issues.

However, fans speculated all of the changes were due to poor ticket sales.

Neither Live Nation nor Lopez confirmed that was the case.

The tour was set to kick off on June 26 in Orlando, Florida.

She was set to stop at The Kia Forum in Inglewood on July 11 and then at Anaheim’s Honda Center on July 13.

Lopez isn’t the only act to suspend her arena tour.

Just last week, the Black Keys quietly pulled the plug on their North American tour, after they announced they were going to hit the road in September. The band removed their tour dates from their website.

Fans also assumed this was due to low ticket sales.

Just days ago, the band revealed the dates were removed because they “decided to make some changes” that will allow them “to offer a similarly exciting, intimate experience for both fans and the band, and will be announcing a revised set of dates shortly.”
