Coldplay ? really ?!?

He's an intense actor. It'll be interesting to see what they do with him.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 5, 2023 3:29 AM |
Bowen sucks
by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 5, 2023 3:33 AM |
Bowen as the Chinese spy balloon. Haha.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 5, 2023 3:34 AM |
Bowen is a good choice for an obnoxious Chinese balloon.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 5, 2023 3:35 AM |
This balloon skit it terrible. Wish we could actually pop Bowen Yang. He sucks!
by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 5, 2023 3:35 AM |
Hell probably be nominated for an Emmy for this balloon portrayal next year. 💭
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 5, 2023 3:35 AM |
Bowen YAWNS right out of the gate. Not a great start..
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 5, 2023 3:35 AM |
Why is Pedro wearing a blouse?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 5, 2023 3:38 AM |
He suggests a 1960s Omar Sharif to me.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 5, 2023 3:39 AM |
Pedro wearing a womens blouse? How progressivve?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 5, 2023 3:39 AM |
Pascal is nervous.
He's so f*cking cute.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 5, 2023 3:39 AM |
He looks great despite the purple blouse. Younger and slimer than on The Last of Us.

oh no...Another boring game show skit?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 5, 2023 3:43 AM |
Then he's even more remarkable. He's been on three of the hottest shows of the last few years. He's made it big.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 5, 2023 3:45 AM |
Bowen is the new Kate McKinnon aka overused cast member.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 5, 2023 3:45 AM |
90% of the time Bowen Yang comes on, I have to mute him.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 5, 2023 3:45 AM |
Has Bowen and his writer pals been lurking on the Andrea Riseborough threads for material?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 5, 2023 3:48 AM |
Dystopian Mario Bros already looks better than the Chris Pratt film.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 5, 2023 3:53 AM |
Did they replace the entire writing staff?
The show has actually been pretty clever so far.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 5, 2023 3:55 AM |
What is the accent?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 5, 2023 3:56 AM |
R22 It's deaf person accent.

by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 5, 2023 4:00 AM |
Pedro is gorgeous.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 5, 2023 4:01 AM |
Bowen has set a new standard for overrated cast member. He’s shockingly one note, and that note isn’t particularly funny.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 5, 2023 4:03 AM |
Pedro has a nice bod and a cute face. And then there's the voice.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 5, 2023 4:03 AM |
Who is the gay guy sitting between Eggo and Sarah?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 5, 2023 4:03 AM |
SNL and DL are back.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 5, 2023 4:04 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 5, 2023 4:05 AM |
The host is fugly. I can do better.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 5, 2023 4:05 AM |
Oops, there’s the new always-repressed-anger-voice, Leslie Jones-template castmember.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 5, 2023 4:06 AM |
They were smart to do a sketch objectifying Pedro. He is so hot, even in a blouse.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 5, 2023 4:06 AM |
I'm actually getting a kick out of SNL.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | February 5, 2023 4:06 AM |
The writing is getting better. The Daddy Teacher sketch is working.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 5, 2023 4:06 AM |
Pedro’s shirt does need to come off.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 5, 2023 4:07 AM |
Is this really happening? Is this actually a good SNL episode?
It's been so long. I'm in shock.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 5, 2023 4:08 AM |
The boy in the striped shirt was so cute.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 5, 2023 4:09 AM |

Pascal is so damn appealing.
I predict he'll be cast Villian with a Comedic Flair in the next James Bond movie.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 5, 2023 4:09 AM |
The Horrible New Fast Foods sketch is eerily accurate.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | February 5, 2023 4:09 AM |
I know fancams but who was the woman in that sketch? Kari Lake?
by Anonymous | reply 43 | February 5, 2023 4:10 AM |
Will Pedro’s new language go viral?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | February 5, 2023 4:10 AM |

I'm pleasantly surprised.
The only reason I tuned in is because I have a raging crush on his character Joel in "The Last of Us".

Please God, get the rock'n alien off the stage.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 5, 2023 4:15 AM |
It’s now the backing-by-choir phase of their musical career.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | February 5, 2023 4:16 AM |
R10 Oscar Isaac’s always seemed more of a modern day Sharif or Raul Julia. Pedro reminds me more of Burt Reynolds.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | February 5, 2023 4:16 AM |
Are Coldplay going to perform a song at some point?
I hear a lot of sounds but no melody or anything.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | February 5, 2023 4:17 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 54 | February 5, 2023 4:19 AM |
Pascal reminds me of David Boreanaz.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | February 5, 2023 4:19 AM |
I love Boreanaz' jerk off video. Long but skinny. Not like Hunter's long, thick co*ck.

Groundhog Bruh
by Anonymous | reply 57 | February 5, 2023 4:24 AM |
I guess Bowen was too fat for the groundhog costume.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | February 5, 2023 4:24 AM |
This groundhog looks like Bill Hader except not funny.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | February 5, 2023 4:25 AM |
I look at Collin and I get the feeling he goes home to Scarlett who says, why do you bother with this sh*t? NO ENERGY.

Groundhog should have been half as long but I don't mind looking at Michael Longfellow.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | February 5, 2023 4:33 AM |
Why's everyone screaming? Who's playing Mama?
by Anonymous | reply 66 | February 5, 2023 4:35 AM |
I would swallow Chris Martin's co*ck whole.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | February 5, 2023 4:38 AM |
This sketch sucks. Marcello should be fire after this season.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | February 5, 2023 4:38 AM |
Christopher Walken move over.
I think SNL has found in Pascal its best host since him.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | February 5, 2023 4:39 AM |
Pedro’s fun!
by Anonymous | reply 70 | February 5, 2023 4:39 AM |
There's just something about Marcello that's so f*cking sexy.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | February 5, 2023 4:40 AM |
Marcello served some Ethnic Twink Realness as the son.

by Anonymous | reply 73 | February 5, 2023 4:42 AM |
Who performed an exorcism on the SNL studio?
Even tonight's Sarah Sherman sketch was funny.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | February 5, 2023 4:47 AM |
Where’s Andrew Dismukes?
by Anonymous | reply 75 | February 5, 2023 4:48 AM |
All Coldplay needs on that stage is the cast from STOMP to make it even more comical.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | February 5, 2023 4:49 AM |
Pascal lucked out with better writing than usual, but he's not really top of the crop in terms of more recent serious actors hosting SNL. Someone mentioned Oscar Isaac upthread, he had much better comedic timing and was more versatile. As hideous as they are, same with Adam Driver and Benedict Cumberbatch.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | February 5, 2023 4:49 AM |
Was the TWINK next to Chris his boyfriend? Coldplays last good song was 2010. Time to hang it up Lavender Chris...
by Anonymous | reply 78 | February 5, 2023 4:52 AM |
It would figure that the show with the best sketches in a few seasons would have the worst musical performances in a few seasons.
What was that crap? Why have Coldplay on to do a lousy 20-year-old song?
by Anonymous | reply 79 | February 5, 2023 4:53 AM |
A SECOND restaurant skit?
What, they didn't do stupid science students?
by Anonymous | reply 80 | February 5, 2023 4:56 AM |
Table shaking? Where are the jokes?
by Anonymous | reply 81 | February 5, 2023 4:56 AM |
They really missed a chance to have Ego and Punkie play Diamond and Silk. I could see that.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | February 5, 2023 4:59 AM |
[quote]Where’s Andrew Dismukes?
I think I saw on social media that he's doing some standup shows. SNL seems much more lenient these days in giving even newish cast members time off.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | February 5, 2023 4:59 AM |
I thought that the juggling pitcher of beverage delivered a great performance in that sketch.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | February 5, 2023 5:00 AM |
R78 The twink pretending to sing? I asked the same question.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | February 5, 2023 5:00 AM |
Ego was supposed to be the joke, I think, but she can only do the no-nonsense black woman.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | February 5, 2023 5:00 AM |
ANDREW is in the background of the closing...He is there...
by Anonymous | reply 87 | February 5, 2023 5:02 AM |
r86, if that was true, they gave nothing to play against.
Oh, the close, no wonder it was in the sh*t 30.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | February 5, 2023 5:02 AM |
In case you missed it----->>Andrew Dismukes was on Late Night this past week...
by Anonymous | reply 89 | February 5, 2023 5:03 AM |
Andrew must have done something bad to not be featured in any sketches. Maybe he was also given a bare assed spanking.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | February 5, 2023 5:03 AM |
Ooooh! The cast wearing protest shirts during the outro?
by Anonymous | reply 91 | February 5, 2023 5:04 AM |
Ego Nwodim finally did something funny other than Dionne Warwick. She's only been on the show, what, four seasons?
by Anonymous | reply 92 | February 5, 2023 5:04 AM |
Too soon, R82, too soon!
by Anonymous | reply 93 | February 5, 2023 5:07 AM |
This was a shockingly good episode.
Even the dumb 12:55 sketch that goes off the rails/makes cast members break was much better than usual.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | February 5, 2023 5:08 AM |
Andrew Dismukes' LPSG page features numerous shirtless and bare feets shots.
Something tells me he likes a bare-assed spanking.
by Anonymous | reply 95 | February 5, 2023 5:10 AM |
Andrew might have been punished for his crappy "male confidence seminar" sketch last week.
The cast members did not seem to love Pedro Pascal—they kept their distance during the goodnights. Weird, because he knocked it out of the park.
by Anonymous | reply 96 | February 5, 2023 5:19 AM |
R96 Maybe the cast was embarrassed since they always strike out.
by Anonymous | reply 97 | February 5, 2023 5:20 AM |
I saw that "Bowen" was trending on twitter. And then I saw the balloon bit. Not funny.
I didn't watch the entire show. Was there another skit tonight that showcased Bowen's comedic talent that was actually funny?
Are we just being gaslight by Gen Z who are trying to make Bowen Yang the next great comedy talent?
Would they have the same enthusiasm for Bowen if he was straight and white? The Bowen fangirling on twitter feels so fake and astroturfed.
The young gay comic who is actually making people laugh is Tim Dillon. But his comedy isn't approved by the woke, so he'll never be invited by Lorne to audition for SNL.

It’s The Bowen Yang Show with Keenan Thompson.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | February 5, 2023 5:51 AM |

I could get into that. As long as he doesn't sing.

He appeared shirtless in a short film.

This is episode is actually funny!
I wonder if the world is ending tonight?
by Anonymous | reply 116 | February 5, 2023 8:08 AM |
Where the hell did this show come from?
The writing was sharp. 90% of the sketches had a point. It was topical: The cold open was based on a news event that happened at 3pm.
Even the usual rote game show sketch was clever and made a statement: There is way too much "acclaimed streaming content" for anyone to keep track of.
I've been watching SNL since the mid-80s, and it was the most consistent episode I've seen in years. What happened?
by Anonymous | reply 117 | February 5, 2023 8:36 AM |
"10,000 BEAKS!!!!!" I can't stop laughing.
Help me?
by Anonymous | reply 118 | February 5, 2023 8:52 AM |
This picture of Chris Martin working out shirtless has lived rent-free in my head since it was published.
Perfect boyfriend body.
He's too skinny now.
by Anonymous | reply 119 | February 5, 2023 8:53 AM |
Seems everyone couldn't stifle their laughter during the juggling pitcher sketch.
by Anonymous | reply 121 | February 5, 2023 11:51 AM |
Isn't Chris Martin now living with Dakota Jackson?
I never thought he was gay, he's simply British!
by Anonymous | reply 122 | February 5, 2023 11:52 AM |
Bowen actually seemed to be cracking up and signaling to the director to wrap things up during the sketch. So unprofessional.
We can do without this kind of representation. Would be great to see an out cast member who's actually talented. Instead, we get minstrels and one-notes like Bowen and Kate McKinnon and are supposed to be grateful because a box has been checked.
by Anonymous | reply 123 | February 5, 2023 11:57 AM |
R123 Bowen Yang, Executive Producer. Lorne won't live forever.
R115 The cute guy with the band during the close? Woof! This must be the Chris Martin twink era.
by Anonymous | reply 124 | February 5, 2023 2:02 PM |
To all the clueless people wondering about the "twink" next to Chris Martin, he's a GRAMMY-award winning songwriter named Jacob Collier who is known for being a musical genius and doing a lot of harmonies/unconventional chords, which I think is how Chris found out about him and asked him to write on a prior song. He's not out, seems more asexual. He is very talented, but his voice isn't great.
He does a really cool thing in his concerts where he has the audience sing...
by Anonymous | reply 125 | February 5, 2023 3:47 PM |
OK, class, pay attention. Chris Martin was gay even back when he was with Gwyneth. Open secret. Pascal's best pal is Sarah Paulson, who's gay. Pascal performed in a play up on the Cape about 20 years ago and after performances, would bike tp Provincetown and "entertain" at various gay bars on Commercial and thereabouts. He was VERY popular. Also, he's never been linked to any female, romantically.
There will be a quiz.
by Anonymous | reply 126 | February 5, 2023 4:06 PM |
^ He is also a single dad.
by Anonymous | reply 127 | February 5, 2023 4:10 PM |
And in every picture of him in the last few years, he's grouped with out, gay actors like Matt Bomer, Jason Butler Harner, and NPH.
by Anonymous | reply 128 | February 5, 2023 4:24 PM |
I love Bowen
by Anonymous | reply 129 | February 5, 2023 5:24 PM |
I think I'm the only one who found this episode to be 'ehhhh'. I chuckled a few times, but found most of it dull. Love Marcello, though. He should be in some shirtless scenes.
by Anonymous | reply 130 | February 5, 2023 5:26 PM |
Funniest episode in a very long time. Plus big ole gay Chris Martin.
by Anonymous | reply 131 | February 5, 2023 5:27 PM |

I'm besotted with his character Joel on "TLOU".

by Anonymous | reply 141 | February 5, 2023 7:26 PM |
I have nothing against Bowen, I just don’t even see him trying to be all that funny. He just basically says his lines in his normal Bowen voice, with the same verbal tics he uses on his podcast and presumably in every other part of his life. No real characterizations. No big jokes. He just sort of talks (/whines). I can barely even find his comedy to even begin to judge it.
by Anonymous | reply 143 | February 5, 2023 10:14 PM |
Bowen was funny as the game show host
by Anonymous | reply 144 | February 5, 2023 10:38 PM |
I feel the last several years the show hires diverse people (race, sexuality) just to be PC. Their comedy talent is an afterthought.
by Anonymous | reply 145 | February 5, 2023 11:23 PM |
Lorne Micheals should have retired ages ago. I do think if someone like Tina Fey takes over the show would improve immediately. Seth Meyers is also in the front of the line to take over SNL..20 years ago SNL was all over the political and pop culture map. Now they do stupid game show skits and burned steak bits.
by Anonymous | reply 146 | February 5, 2023 11:42 PM |
The Game show skits can be poignant, like Black Jeopardy.
The Hollywood Game show was brilliant in its satire.
by Anonymous | reply 147 | February 5, 2023 11:45 PM |
"brilliant"?.....oh, I think not!!
by Anonymous | reply 148 | February 5, 2023 11:47 PM |
R146 Tina Fey said years ago that she doesn't have any desire to take over SNL.
by Anonymous | reply 149 | February 5, 2023 11:52 PM |
He was so cute as the mom
by Anonymous | reply 150 | February 5, 2023 11:53 PM |
R146 = A few years ago Tina Fey had a bigger career. Now she has pilots that don't get picked up and a movie career that fizzled. I could see NBC picking her with Seth Meyers co-producing.
by Anonymous | reply 151 | February 5, 2023 11:59 PM |
That damned well done steak was so f*cking funny. I hope Lisa from Temecula because a recurring character. It was a good show last night, even without my Andrew Dismukes.
by Anonymous | reply 152 | February 6, 2023 12:04 AM |
R146, if Lorne had retired years ago the show would have been cancelled years ago.
Neither Tina nor Seth have the steeliness needed to battle with network execs nor the stomach to oust underperforming cast members.
I think the show will end when Lorne retires. Many of today's celebs and music stars aren't up to live performing anyway.
by Anonymous | reply 153 | February 6, 2023 2:00 AM |
R153 = If you think Lorne is "battling network execs" you are insane. Lorne checked out years ago. He is also the only thing keeping LOW RATED Fallon on the air.
by Anonymous | reply 154 | February 6, 2023 2:20 AM |
Fallon sells advert time and sells new music talent.
Both profitable.
by Anonymous | reply 155 | February 6, 2023 2:22 AM |
R154, all the late night shows are down in the ratings including SNL.
NBC keeps giving Fallon opportunities to do things in primetime like his recent Christmas cartoon special and his That's My Jam show so things can't be that bad for him.
Agree with R155 that his promotion of new music is valuable. His show books better talent than SNL.
by Anonymous | reply 156 | February 6, 2023 2:29 AM |
Jason B. Harnar is definitely gay. Was linked to director David Cromer for a time. Both are said to have huge dicks, but Cromer had trouble getting his up, I was told by a reliable source.
by Anonymous | reply 157 | February 6, 2023 2:48 AM |
Well I know for a fact that Pedro Pascal is gay, what does that earn me
by Anonymous | reply 158 | February 6, 2023 3:39 AM |
This was the most laugh out loud ep in a looong time. I loved the last sketch in particular. Every time someone “breaks,” I crack up.
by Anonymous | reply 159 | February 6, 2023 3:42 AM |
R155 = THIRD PLACE "profitable"....Fallon is going to "retire" right after Lorne because he knows NBC ain't keeping him without Lorne.
by Anonymous | reply 160 | February 6, 2023 3:47 AM |
R160, he'll be fine. He's a multimillionaire now.

Michael Longfellow is not long for this world. He's got dead eyes and oozes unhappiness.

R163, I thought he would do well.

I did love that slam about Apple TV. Best part of the whole show. Wednesday!!!! I really think SNL should just end with Lorne. It’s had a long run and it’s not the same show anymore. I would think we can survive. I think reruns of In living color or a movie would have better ratings.

I’d love to see Pedro play George Michael in a biopic

R166 Shut up. I already have that role.

Years ago, I would have put money on John Mulaney taking over as executive producer. But that was before his meltdown mess.
Supposedly Colin Jost keeps hanging on because he wants to take over. Someone I know at NBC says they may move the show out of 30 Rock at that time because the Teamsters crew is unsustainably expensive and has the network over a barrel.
On one hand, SNL is an institution like Today or Tonight. On the other, it's not the cash cow those other shows are because of the talent costs. Since the show now airs live across the country (in prime time on the West Coast), it's not inconceivable they could take it to LA.

I wonder if Pedro and Chris f*cked each other's brains out all week.

Okay, R158, I'll bite: how do you know for a fact that Pedro is gay?

Even if Lorne leaves, I don't think NBC would cancel SNL. It's been a television institution for nearly 50 years. I think the ratings would have to completely crater before they'd pull the plug on it.

They merely addressed the balloon situation on the cold open. They forgot to make it funny.
by Anonymous | reply 172 | February 6, 2023 4:53 AM |
Steve Martin and Martin Short were funnier a few weeks (months?) ago. Minus insufferable Coldplay and stale Weekend Update, this episode was better than usual. I liked Bowen as the Chinese balloon. Who else could have done it?

R170 Pedro Pascal liked a sh*t ton of gay related posts back when we were able to see the posts the people we followed liked. Insta scrapped that function, because they deemed it "too creepy" (yet we can still see likes on Twitter, but ok). I'm pretty sure he's gay. He didn't hide it, at least not back then. I assumed he would come out with the release of his new show, as the main character is lesbian. He could talk about his own experience as a gay man. I'm honestly shocked he's still in the closet.
by Anonymous | reply 174 | February 6, 2023 5:46 AM |
The fact that he's an actor doesn't mean he owes us details of his personal life.
by Anonymous | reply 175 | February 6, 2023 5:49 AM |
R175 True, but visibility is important. He is one of two main actors in a show where the other main character is lesbian. As he doesn't seem to hide being gay in his private life it would be nice if he could come out to the public.
by Anonymous | reply 176 | February 6, 2023 6:47 AM |
R126, Pascal IS gay, most people already know about him. Never heard that CM was.
Then again, who cares.
Shove your silly quiz.

Sworn affidavits and DNA testing, no doubt!

Pedro looked at me from the TV and made me feel funny.

I disagree. When he came out with the “3D model” and it was a little Happy Birthday balloon, I was laughing. Then Bowen when the balloon was described as the size of three buses, “ok, first, ouch!” was a riot.

Lisa from Temecula already has over 2 million views on YouTube. I wonder when we'll see her again.

Ego is on the verge of being the breakout star of the season. I've watched Lisa from Temecula a few times now - which I haven't done for an SNL sketch in years. She gets funnier each time. Great timing and presence. Not sure if she writes her own stuff, but if so? Watch out.

Pedro has a trans "sister" so he is gay friendly.

I liked the hospital/weird speech sketch......

I have flawless Strai-dar.
On the Pedro Pascal thread (or, is it here upthread?) somebody posted a video of Pascal being interviewed outside of a premier or something.
I also did a Youtube dive of his interviews and promotions.
Pascal is as heterosexual as Paul Lynde, Charles Nelson Reilly and Richard Simmons, put together.

Lisa from Temecula is one of those left-field, bizarre sketches that are always gold for SNL. Until they become popular, and Lorne runs them into the ground.
by Anonymous | reply 192 | February 8, 2023 1:03 AM |
OH gawd I wanna spend all day licking Pedro's funky latinx hole. Mmmmmmm.
by Anonymous | reply 193 | February 8, 2023 4:50 AM |
Ego was hilarious in the steak skit—twice I laughed out loud. First when she said, “Cuz we’re black?” (perfect timing) and then, “We’re just here minding our own business”😂
Add those to the Black Lotus’ “Is the ocean the hotel? Because I work at the hotel” line and we have ourselves the making of an mvp.

"Lisa from Temecula" was by far the funniest sketch in recent years.
by Anonymous | reply 195 | February 8, 2023 10:35 AM |
The reason "Lisa from Temecula" was by far the funniest sketch in recent years was it went against SNL tradition of MEN being the major assholes in sketches. Eggo did a good job, but not as good as McKinnon's alien abducted lesbians.

Agree that someone like Seth or Tina (or a funny name we don’t know) could take over and reinvent the show. The problem is that the hiring instincts have been so bad over the past decade or more, we’re more likely to end up with an unfunny white dude.
