How many times can you fail a class at WVU? ›

No course may be attempted more than three times unless approved by the dean of the student's major program. A course is attempted when a grade is recorded on the transcript. Some academic units may also count withdrawals as a course attempt.

Dean's and President's List. Outstanding undergraduate academic achievement is recognized by awarding President's List and Dean's List status to students who obtain a 4.0 GPA or 3.5 GPA, respectively. Only the highest honor is awarded, and it will be noted on the transcript.

GPA is Affected

Under most grading systems, an F or fail grade contributes no points towards your GPA, which can significantly drop your overall GPA. This drop in GPA can trigger consequences such as academic probation or even dismissal, especially if one fails multiple classes or a high-credit course.

The award is given to a top percentile of students, like the top 10% or 25%. The exact dean's list GPA requirements will depend on each particular pool of students, but is usually at least a 3.5 GPA.

To be included in this list, an undergraduate student must complete a full-time load (at least 12 credits of graded coursework) with a grade point average of 3.5 or greater.

How do I know if I made the Dean's list? Most colleges will email the students who have made it on the dean's list directly. If you are unsure if you made it, the list of students who achieve this award are typically compiled into a document which is made public to all students.

WVU admissions is somewhat selective with an acceptance rate of 88%. Students that get into WVU have an average SAT score between 1000-1220 or an average ACT score of 20-26. The regular admissions application deadline for WVU is rolling.

Can I get into WVU with a 3.3 GPA? ›

The GPA requirements for getting into WVU are to have around a 3.45 high school GPA. You are required to have above average high school grades. If your high school grades are above the average 3.45 GPA, you have a very good chance of being admitted as WVU accepts 88% of applicants.

Academic achievement.

An overall undergraduate grade point average of at least 2.8 (where 'A' = 4.0). However, for an overall undergraduate GPA below 3.0, the applicant must have achieved a GPA for 3.2 or higher in one of the following: CSD major coursework.

If a B.A. student exceeds forty-two credits in one subject, then the excess must be matched by an equal number of credits in any other subject. For example, if the minimum hours for graduation is 120, and a student earns forty-six hours in COMM (42 + 4), that student will require 124 hours to graduate (120 + 4).

At some colleges, only first-year students can retake failed classes. At others, any student can repeat courses. However, schools often put a cap on the number of repeats — and you'll need to pay tuition each time. If you fail a class twice, you might want to consider a different major.

Most schools allow you to repeat up to two or three subjects. For example, if you have failed in two subjects such as math and English, then, you can repeat those two subjects along with your next class.
